Tonight, the Office of Public and Media Relations for the NCAA responded to our request regarding a "Where's Your Green Card?" chant made this afternoon by members of the Southern Mississippi pep band and directed at Kansas State freshman guard Ángel Rodríguez, who was born in Puerto Rico and is an American citizen. The quote we got from the NCAA appears at the bottom of this post.

After the following video was posted on Buzzfeed and spread through social media, Southern Mississippi President Dr. Martha Saunders issued an apology.

This is what the NCAA issued to us tonight:

The institution [Southern Mississippi] responded in a timely and appropriate fashion to address the matter. Any determination of championship misconduct is the purview of the men’s basketball committee and will be addressed following the tournament.
