The following is raw YouTube video about a confrontation between Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, one of the nation’s most vocal anti-immigrant voices, and members of the Sunflower Community Action, a “a Kansas-wide, non-profit, grassroots organization” that promotes social and racial equality.

This is what local Kansas media is reporting:

Kris-Kobach

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach was in town Friday for a regular meeting at the Wichita Pachyderm Club, but it was all disrupted by protesters and then police.

It happened at least four times.

Police were called in to make sure the protesters stayed out of the meeting after different activists with the Sunflower Community Action Group spoke up.

Their plan was to shout questions at Kobach.

“Creating these anti-immigrant laws that are only hurting our economy, hurting our communities,” shouted one protester.

They gathered outside the meeting after being asked to leave.

Police were called in to make sure unwanted guests were no longer lingering.

Kobach calls the interruption unfortunate.

“I think it’s really unfortunate. The people disrupting today’s presentation seem to be concerned about illegal immigration. I’m guessing they were in favor of amnesty.”

According to the Sunflower website, part of their mission statement reads: “Our mission is to unite and empower people to achieve justice and equality for all, changing lives by developing grassroots leaders who identify problems and seek lasting solutions. Sunflower members build power by taking action and holding decision-makers accountable.”
