A Thursday afternoon video from the Facebook page of immigration rights leader Erika Andiola showed undocumented youth and allies protesting outside of Senator Chuck Schumer’s DC office, as they call for him and Democrats to vote no on a year-end federal spending bill unless the DREAM Act is included. According to Andiola, three people, one of which was a DACA recipient, were arrested, hours after additional arrests happened at another action at the Capitol.

Other videos from the Schumer action can been seen here and here.

While the Schumer protest was happening, news broke that a deal to avoid a government shutdown on Friday happened. The short-term funding agreement will keep the government funded until December 22, but Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has already said that a final spending deal will not happen unless there is a DACA fix.

“We will not leave here without a DACA fix,” she said at a Thursday press conference.

Andiola also urged undocumented youth and allies to come to the nation’s capital on December 18 to “shut down” the government “ourselves.”
