So we are trying. In response to readers who have signed the THE PETITION TO HAVE MLB ALL-STARS SEND A MESSAGE ABOUT ARIZONA!!!! (yeah, we are being dramatic for the SEO Searches and Google Spiders) and wanted to know if Major League Baseball or the Major League Baseball Players Association would issue statements about the current immigration crisis in Arizona, the site of the July 13 All-Star Game on Fox.

The last two days, we have called and/or emailed the following teams, all of which have Latino All-Stars playing for them:

  • New York Yankees
  • Boston Red Sox
  • Detroit Tigers
  • Texas Rangers
  • Seattle Mariners
  • Cleveland Indians
  • New York Mets
  • Florida Marlins
  • Toronto Blue Jays
  • St. Louis Cardinals
We sent each of these teams the following email (this is the one we sent to the Red Sox):

We are, a news and comedy show that focuses on Latino issues in the United States. Recently, we are getting requests from our readers to ask current Latino MLB All-Stars to comment on the location of the All-Star Game this year in Phoenix and the immigration issue.

We would like to see if we can get a statement from Adrian Gonzalez and David Ortiz that expresses their feelings on immigration and the current laws in Arizona.

Thank you.

As of July 11, 2011 at 7 pm EST, we have received just two responses:

From the Indians: "Asdrubal has no comment on the issue."

From the Marlins: "Gaby Sanchez respectfully declines."

We also contacted both MLB and MLBPA. Two emails and one call to MLB's group that is basically all at the game in Phoenix have resulted in no comment. A voice mail to the MLBPA's Media Director is still unanswered.

If we get more comments, we will share.
