New Bipartisan PAC Formed in Phoenix with One Goal in Mind: Defeat Sheriff Joe Arpaio

We just received the following press statement from Citizens for Professional Law Enforcement (CFPLE).

BIPARTISAN COALITION LAUNCHES COMMITTEE TO DEFEAT SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO 

Phoenix — Citizens for Professional Law Enforcement (CFPLE), a bipartisan group of elected officials, civic and business leaders today announced its effort to end the corrupt practices of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

“For far too long, Maricopa County residents have been represented by incompetency and reckless leadership, so we have come together to say enough is enough,” said co-chair Carlos Sierra.

“Over the course of the next two months, we will educate Maricopa County voters on Sheriff Joe’s misdeeds, and spend upward of $1 Million to defeat him,” said co-chair State Representative Ruben Gallego. “We must return principled leadership back to the Sheriff’s Department.”

FACTS ABOUT SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO

FACT: More than 400 uninvestigated sex abuse cases involving women and children.

FACT: Nearly $100 Million of misspent taxpayer money, partially used to go after political rivals.

FACT: Civil rights abuses throughout the county.

FACT:  Tens of millions of dollars in lawsuit settlements due to harassment and violations.

FACT: Numerous unnecessary deaths in Arpaio’s jails.

FACT: Discriminatory tactics against Hispanics.

FACT: Wasted taxpayer funds on President Obama’s birth certificate investigation in Hawaii.

FACT: Polling shows Arpaio’s lead to just six points, making it his closest race ever.
