Chávez’s Condition Worsens

Tonight Ernesto Villegas, Venezuela’s Communication and Information Minister, said via Venezuelan television that the heath of President Hugo Chávez has worsened, and that a “new and severe infection” has developed.

According to Villegas, Chávez, who recently spent two months being treated in Cuba for an unidentified form of cancer that was revealed in 2011, is now experiencing more intense chemotherapy.

He admitted that Chávez’s condition “continues to be very delicate.” Villegas also said that the Venezuelan leader is very aware of his health challenges and the he keeps clinging to life.
