It’s the story of boy meets girl, loses girl, loses himself in a new land, then finds the will to start a revolution back home in the U.S., bringing about the advent of a long-awaited immigration reform. The songs follow his progress, thanks in part to the lush but funky touch of producer José Luis “Cheo” Pardo of Venezuela’s Los Amigos Invisibles.

And now, Chapter 5: Una Vida Nueva York.

We learn Miriela was persuaded by the self-interested Hector to abandon her desire to be with Fernando, in favor of her ambitions for her country and herself. She goes to New York, where she uses her position at the UN to break rank and call for radical reforms in Cuban and US policy.

Intro shot in a melodramatic telenovela style.
