Family of David Sal Silva Awarded $3.4 Million in Wrongful Death Suit

Three years ago, we began to cover the death of David Sal Silva at the hands of Kern County sheriff deputies in Bakersfield. While no formal charges were ever made against the officers that tragic night in May of 2013, yesterday a $3.4 million settlement was reached between Silva’s family and Kern County.

Sheriff Donny Youngblood, who is also the county coroner, said in a press conference that he was against the settlement:
