In a story that is developing at a rapid pace, a live video from Honduras’ UNE TV that started broadcasting Monday afternoon is reporting that the national police’s elite COBRA forces are going on strike and not following orders from the government that they say are repressing protesters for speaking out against President Juan Orlando Hernández and the country’s recent elections. The video is in Spanish but has already shown police officers saying they will not kill their own people during protests that have turned violent at times. It is unclear at this point whether there will be clashes between military police and the national police forces. (FYI: The channel has decided to run a somewhat annoying “ÚLTIMA HORA” voiceover.)
