The Killers released the new “Land of the Free” single and video, featuring the work of director Spike Lee. The video shows raw and emotional footage of the current humanitarian crisis happening in parts of the U.S.-Mexico border, including the San Diego-Tijuana area, which appears throughout the video.

According to Variety, the clear condemnation of President Trump’s policies is obvious. Lee, Variety stated, traveled “to the U.S.-Mexico border to capture footage of migrants families on their journeys toward ‘the land of the free.’ The video shows scenes of migrants’ clashes with police, as well as U.S. Border Patrol’s controversial practice of firing tear gas at migrants, many of whom are seeking asylum from violence in their home countries.”
