WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Supreme Court declined to take up DACA litigation for its first term of the new year.

Sanaa Abrar, Advocacy Director of United We Dream, said:

“Today immigrant youth can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that DACA protections will be safe for a few more months. In mid-February, the court will announce whether they will take up the case in their next session this fall.

“We urge DACA recipients and their families to visit RenewMyDACA.com to find information about renewing your protections now. We also ask all people to support  immigrant youth by contributing to the DACA renewal fund at DACARenewalFund.org to help with this process while you still can.

“DACA’s protections have provided hundreds of thousands of immigrant youth with peace of mind and safety as well as work and educational opportunities. Shamefully, Trump has done everything he can to rip that apart and is playing a cruel game with the lives of immigrant youth.

“Trump has created a crisis for immigrant youth, TPS holders, federal workers and those who depend on them to jam through his mass deportation agenda.

“These cruel games must end, Trump should reopen the government and Congress should pass permanent protections for immigrants and not give more money to ICE and CBP to detain, deport and kill our communities.

“Immigrant youth are resilient and we will never stop defending the right of our families and people of color to exist and thrive in this country.”
