Cassie Comley, a PhD student at the University of Oregon is doing a project about Latino surfers and is looking for people to interview. This third-generation Chicana is collecting data by interviewing Latino (especially Mexican American) surfers about their experiences with surf culture, with a focus on the Southern California area.

Interviews will range from 30 minutes to an hour. Data from this study will be used for her doctoral thesis and all information will be confidential.

“There is hardly any historical information about Latina/o surfers, especially Mexican American surfers, and I’m eager to fill this gap in the literate and shed light on Chicana/o experiences in sport,” Cassie told us.
