FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Phoenix, AZ – Erick Ordonez Huerta’s young life was tragically and senselessly taken on January 7 as he protected another. He graduated from Chandler High in 2015 and continued his education as a student at Chandler-Gilbert Community College pursuing an Engineering Degree. He maintained a 3.5 GPA while working to help support his family. As one of his professors I was able to witness his commitment and growth as a student and as a person.

Erick was a Dreamer in every sense, he aspired to become an engineer even though obtaining an education had not been easy due to his immigration status. His freshman year in college he paid out-of-pocket even though he was classified as an out-of-state student, this was one of the many sacrifices that he was willing to make to succeed. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him ,Erick leaves behind his parents, sister, two brothers, many relatives, his girlfriend and friends. His funeral is going to cost his family $18,000 and they need help to give Erick a proper service and burial.
