This just in from CBS 4 in El Paso, Texas. According to a Tuesday morning tweet from Claudia Tristán, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has approved a six-month stay of removal for Maria De Loera, the mother of eight-year-old Alia, who has been battling cancer.

The following video from CBS 4 shares more context to De Loera’s story. According to CBS 4, De Loera was facing deportation, but the Tuesday news of the stay of removal from ICE allows for De Loera to remain in the United States for at least six months.
