Bad Bunny, Residente and iLe just released a song that condemns Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s administration and calls on the people of Puerto Rico to unite. At a time of unprecedented protests in response to allegations of corruption and the #TelegramGate scandal, “Afilando los Cuchillos” is an outcry.  “We are cutting like the knives…cutting the weeds from the plant so that they don’t take advantage of what’s mine,” sings iLe in the chorus.

Residente begins the song with a freestyle directed at Rosselló where he calls out some of the messages found in the leaked chat group between the governor and other powerful officials and says, “Just like Ricky, I’m only letting go of my tensions”—responding to Rosselló’s excuse that the chat group was meant to “free up tensions.” Bad Bunny delivers his freestyle in the second half of the song where he says that it’s not about speaking freely in conversations but about “lying to the public.”
