When Asked About Puerto Rico’s Political Status, López Obrador Says That Mexico Will Always Support Independence for Countries

Earlier on Wednesday, during the same press conference where he discussed the memory of the 1968 October 2 Tlatelolco Massacre, Mexico president Andrés Manuel López Obrador was asked by a Puerto Rican documentary filmmaker what was official Mexico’s position on Puerto Rico’s self-determination.

In the following clip from the press conference (prepared by Phillip Arroyo), AMLO gave his answer, essentially saying that Mexico’s official position is to support the right of all countries to be independent without any intervention from any other country. Here is the clip:
