The Puerto Rican Cultural Center in Chicago has sent a letter to Congress requesting that at least half of the funds allocated for Puerto Rico’s Nutritional Assistance Program be directed to supporting the island’s farmers and promoting greater self-sufficiency.

Organizations supporting the Self-Determination Act of 2021 (H.R. 2070) for Puerto Rico have initiated a series of nationwide actions directed at key House members of the Natural Resources Committee—details of which will be shared at a Wednesday noon press conference outside the White House in Washington, D.C.

Chicago is home to one of the nation’s largest and most organized Puerto Rican communities in the United States.
